Approximately how much time do you dedicate to working on your Spanish outside of class?
A lot! I frequently care for Spanish speaking patients and enjoy using Spanish at work on a regular basis. Outside of work, I volunteer with a healthcare organization in Tijuana where I also speak Spanish with staff and patients. I follow several Spanish podcasts that I will listen to if I’m walking to the grocery store or driving in the car. I watch shows or movies in Spanish on the occasion- I prefer the Mexican accent so I look for Mexican made shows/movies on Netflix :)
On average, how many times per week do you take classes @ Pura Buena Onda?
What role has Pura Buena Onda played in helping you improve your Spanish & advance to the next level?
PBO has provided me with a great community of other people motivated to improve their Spanish! I came to PBO already comfortable speaking Spanish, but I wanted to keep improving my grammar and work towards fluency. I appreciate how every teacher is a native speaker and very engaging. I look forward to class and seeing the familiar faces of other students making class fun rather than a chore.
What are some of your favorite resources?
Podcasts!! I love el Hilo, radio ambulante and no hay tos. I like to read news in Spanish as well. It’s a great way to learn new words related to current events….this past year taught me many pandemic related words 🥴🦠
