How to terminate your auto-renewing membership?
We are sorry to hear you would like to terminate your membership. Is there anything we can do to change your mind?
If not, we ask that you review your account to see if you have any classes remaining.
As you may recall from the membership agreement, our policy is that you may only take classes while you have an active membership (meaning you would lose any unused classes when you terminate).
If you would like to proceed with the termination, we can make the necessary changes for you, once you fill out this form: Membership Terminations
Please note: We need 72 hours to process your request.
We will contact you after you’ve filled out this form.
Thank you for being a part of our community. We sincerely hope that you decide to stay or that you come back at some point in the future!
If you decide to purchase another auto-renewing membership within a year of terminating your current membership, we will gladly reinstate any remaining classes.
For any questions regarding your membership, please either email us at [email protected], or call/text (619) 916-8339 x3.
How to freeze your membership
You may freeze your account in one-week increments, up to 8 total weeks per calendar year.
Please keep in mind that we are closed approximately 6 weeks per year when you consider freezing your account. You may choose to freeze your membership when we are closed or you may want to keep the extra classes you accrue for the 4-5 months each year that have an extra week. When an account is frozen, you are NOT able to schedule or take classes.
In order to freeze your account, please fill out this brief form: Membership Freezes.
Please note: We need 24 hours during the week (M-Th) and up to 48 hours during the weekend (Fri-Sun) to process your request.
We will contact you after you’ve filled out this form.
For any questions regarding your membership, please either email us at [email protected], or call/text (619) 916-8339 x3.
How to change your membership
It’s a pretty easy process to make this happen. All we need you to do is fill out a Change request using this link Membership Changes.
Afterwards, we will purchase your replacement membership on the same day that we terminate your existing membership.
Don’t worry, all your leftover classes will not be lost! We will extend the expiration date for up 90 days from their activation date, so long as you have a current membership (of any type) on your account.
We will contact you once you’ve filled out the termination form.
For any questions regarding your membership, please either email us at [email protected], or call/text (619) 916-8339 x3.

Beginner class homework (level A1)
¡Hola, estudiantes!
We are so excited that you will be joining us for our level A1 beginner’s Spanish classes!
For our beginner classes we recommend the following:
Purchase a notebook specifically for Spanish class. Since we don’t use textbooks, you will be taking a lot of notes (active learning instead of passive learning).
Each week we would like you to write 6 sentences DAILY (5 days a week).
2 days a week we would like your 6 sentences to be:
The complete date (for example: Hoy es sábado, 16 de julio de 2024 – Today is Saturday, July 16th 2024)
The time that you sat down to write (for example: Son las 10 de la mañana – It’s 10am)
3 things about the weather (for example: Hoy hace 80 grados, está nublado pero no está lloviendo – It’s 80° today, it’s cloudy, but it’s not raining)
4), 5), and 6) Take the verb you learned in the mini-lesson of your previous class and write 3 sentences using that verb.
Preferably these would be real sentences about your life, not made up ones and you would use 3 different verb tenses that you learned.
(TIP: you can look up verb tenses in the Verb Conjugator at https://www.wordreference.com/conj/esverbs.aspx)
The other 3 days of the week we would like your sentences to be:
1), 2), and 3) – same as above.
4), 5), and 6) – about your day to day life, whatever is going on that day or you’re thinking about. These should be sentences that you would actually say to someone about your day.
For example:
I will call my sister tomorrow. – Mañana llamaré a mi hermana.
I took the dog for a walk a little while ago. – Paseé al perro hace poco.
I’m so hungry! – ¡Tengo tanta hambre!
More info:
We recommend writing as much in Spanish as you are able to do without looking at a dictionary first.
We highly recommend NOT using a translator, as they are wrong 50% of the time.
We recommend:
– writing the first line in English
– the 2nd one in as much Spanish as you know (then looking up the rest in WordReference or Reverso) and
– leaving the 3rd line blank so that you can make corrections in class with your teacher.
For example:
I’m going on vacation in 2 weeks.
Voy vacación dos semanas.
Then in class you could correct it to: ME voy DE vacacionES EN dos semanas.
If you do this every day of the week, you will:
1 – learn vocabulary pertinent to your life
2 – start learning several new verbs every week
3 – start learning some verb conjugations
4 – start to become familiar with basic sentence structure and
5 – have plenty of conversation starters to use in class with your teacher
Once in class, we will take at least one of the days you wrote about, you will correct what you have written, and build on conversations based on what you shared.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
619-916-8339-call or text – [email protected]
Thank you again for embarking on this beautiful (and at times challenging) journey with us :)

Teacher Office Hours
Teacher Office Hours
Do you take our small-group Spanish classes?
Have you ever wished for more personal feedback or guidance from your teacher?
Let us introduce you to Teacher Office Hours!
Every student enrolled in our small-group Spanish classes has the opportunity to have focused, individual meetings with their teacher, to receive guidance tailored to their Spanish learning journey!
Details:
- This program is for small-group class students only
- You will be able to meet with your teacher 2x a year (once between January-June and once between July-December.)
- Allotted time per meeting: 10 minutes
- You will schedule the time directly with your primary teacher
- We ask that you come prepared to tell your teacher 2-3 things you struggle with, so that they can advise you.
- If the teacher knows you well, you may also want to ask them what they think you should work on for the next few months.
- Please plan for concise 10-minute meetings, as the teachers will not be able to spend more than 10 minutes with each student.
- 24 hour cancelation applies.
- In the event that you cancel less than 24 hours out OR no-show, you will have to wait to reschedule until the following 6 month period.
Possible FAQ’s
- Why is this not available for private or semi-private lesson students?
- Private and semi-private lesson students always have their teacher’s undivided attention and receive personal guidance regularly, whereas group lesson students don’t have the one-on-one experience.
- What happens if I cancel with less than 24 hours notice?
- You will have used your allotted time for that period and will be able to meet with your teacher during the next period of meetings. Meeting periods are:
- Winter/Spring = January-June
- Summer/Fall = July-December
- You will have used your allotted time for that period and will be able to meet with your teacher during the next period of meetings. Meeting periods are:
- What happens if we go over the 10 minutes?
- Going over the 10 minutes allotted is not a possibility at this time.
- Why are the meetings limited to 10 minutes?
- Teachers have a limited amount of free time in their schedule in between classes. 10 minutes is something they can spare 1-2x a week only.
- In addition, this is a complimentary service and is not financially sustainable on our end, if the meetings go over the 10 minutes we have allotted for them.
- What happens if my teacher’s office hours do not work for me?
- We recommend seeing what other teachers offer classes in that level and see one of them.
When you’re ready to schedule:
- Please come to class 5 minutes early or stay after class to arrange a time to meet.
- Please note that most teachers only have availability on specific days.
Easy peasy!
We hope you love and take advantage of this generous offering!
Links for the workbooks
*Students have the option of purchasing a workbook in their level to work through on their own. We recommend which pages to work on each week, but we do not review it in class. The answers can be found in the back of the book. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Class attendance policy 1
When learning a language online, being able to hear clearly and without distractions is very important.
Please help us create this optimum environment for everyone by being seated in a quiet space while wearing wired headphones for your classes.
Suggestions for quality, affordable wired headphones can be found here.
We also ask that you schedule other activities such as hiking, cooking, driving for another time as they are distracting for your fellow students and teacher.
Thank you so much for helping make sure everyone has an excellent learning opportunity with PBO!
Class attendance policy 2
PBO prides itself on our small class sizes as a tool to create the best environment for your learning and the learning of your fellow students.
A friendly reminder that only paid, registered students may attend classes.
Should you have a guest that would like to attend, please refer them to PBO and we will help get them set up to begin their PBO journey.
Your help is greatly appreciated!
Camera Policy
-
Having our camera on increases attention, which boosts our learning retention.
-
It allows us to see when others are finished speaking, which creates a smoother flow to the class.
-
We are able to see the teacher speaking, which will assist with pronunciation, as we watch the teacher’s mouth movements.
-
It helps our teachers see if help is needed or when confidence is up and perhaps a promotion in classes should be considered. Seeing body language gives the teachers a lot of information, which means they are able to do a better job of ensuring we are learning the things we want/need to learn.
-
When learning a new language we sometimes use our hands, faces, and bodies to help us communicate, emphasize and explain what we mean.
Chronic Absences Policy
We totally understand that life happens and things come up, but chronic cancellations and/or no-shows are a bit concerning.
It’s important for us to make sure our teachers’ time is respected and they’re not left hanging around waiting for students or with a bunch of empty classes.
Our policy is that if a student misses more than 50% of their scheduled classes, we’ll need to pause on setting up a fixed schedule.
We want to make sure this is a win-win situation, so if you’re ready to jump back in and get the most out of your classes, please let us know!
We’d love to continue working with you.
PLEASE NOTE that canceling less than 24 hours prior to class will result in losing the class credit, but we’d rather know in advance that you’re not going to make it, than to be left waiting.
Arriving Late to a Group Class Policy
Group classes are 90 minutes long.
However, if there are 1 – 2 students in class, the class will be 60 minutes long for that day only.
Your teacher will let you know at the beginning of class that it’s only going to be an hour so long as no other students show up in the first 15 minutes of class.
If a student shows up after the first 15 minutes, the class will still be 60 minutes and the late student(s) will be informed when they arrive that there were only two students in attendance during the first 15 minutes of class, therefore the class will only be 60 minutes.
Substitute Teacher Policy
A different teacher means a whole new vibe—how fun is that?
We know you’ll love the change, and you’ll be in great hands no matter who is leading the class!
Not only is it fantastic for learning a language, but you get to experience a different vibe!
We hope you love him/her!
PLEASE NOTE:
When there is a teacher substitution for a class, you will receive an email from us through MindBody, including the name of your substitute teacher.
Please note that canceling less than 24 hours prior to class will result in losing the class credit.
