Student Advancement – Cheryl to C1
My name is:
Cheryl
My new level is:
C1
Approximately how much time do you dedicate to working on your Spanish outside of class?
Roughly 2-4 hrs/wk. Has varied alot over time.
On average, how many times per week do you take classes @ Pura Buena Onda?
1
What role has Pura Buena Onda played in helping you improve your Spanish & advance to the next level?
PBO has been the essential component. It has offered me a unique learning environment and amazing teachers. My classes have been challenging, productive, engaging and FUN! Thanks to PBO’s informal, conversational format, conversations have covered a WIDE range of topics from weekend activities to personal philosophies to, dare I say it, politics. PBO has directly or indirectly facilitated wonderful networking opportunities with fellow students, and connections to support systems such as apps, podcasts, films – even amazing “Spanish speaking-only” trips to Spain and Mexico!
What are some of your favorite resources?
I have enjoyed Spanish language movies, mini-series, and documentaries; Spanish “meet-ups” and one-on-ones with practice partners (pre-COVID); Latin news podcasts; and street-talk ones like No Hay Toz. I also enjoyed taking supplemental zoom lessons from a teacher in Oaxaca for several months during lock down.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I’m excited about moving to the next level and pushing myself past my comfort zone. I will miss my awesome long-time teacher, el fabuloso Senor Octavi, and my equally awesome long-time fellow students in B3-C1, but definitely plan to crash their parties occasionally.
¡Gracias Cheryl!
¡Felicidades a Cheryl por avanzar al nivel C1! ¡Bien hecho! We are so happy to have you in our online Spanish classes!
