Channeling Bridgerton
Did you know that between 5 – 7 pm, Chileans gather to “tomar once?”
This refers to a combination of high tea and happy hour, characterized by drinking tea (and sometimes cocktails) and combining sweet & savory canapés.
The theories about the strange name of this Chilean custom are uncertain, but one theory is that it came from the English tea custom called “elevenses,” as Chile had over 50,000 English settlers in the late 1800’s.
The other theory is one that says it arose as a code to refer to the alcoholic beverage aguardiente – which has eleven letters – and that it used to be consumed between meals during the colonial period.
Whatever way it came to be, we would love to celebrate in this tradition with you!
Join us for an enchanting High Tea, where we’ll sip, savor, and socialize amidst a charming tea room.
